Sam is CEO and Broker of City Commercial. He started his commercial real estate career in 1981, after which he co-founded City Commercial in 1983. He is responsible for the management of all day-to-day activities of the firm's brokerage operation, and personally conducts retail and office leasing assignments as well as investment property acquisitions, assemblies and project marketing on its key accounts.
Prior to founding City Commercial, Sam had been involved in a managerial and/or ownership role in retailing, merchandising, and retail real estate development since 1970. He worked as VP and General Manager of a large fashion manufacturer who merchandised through chains such as the Bay, Simpsons, Sears, Eatons, Tip Top Tailor, and Harry Rosen as well as independent retailers across Canada and the United States.
Sam has owned and operated a chain of retail stores and as President of this chain during the 1970's, he introduced Canada to the concept of specialty sleep shops, which merchandised specialty bedding, bedroom furniture, linens and accessories from retail superstores. After selling this chain, he began his career in retail real estate and specializing only in commercial activities by providing real estate consulting and brokerage services to landlords, retailers, office tenants and commercial owner/development groups.
